During a well visited Ceremony at the European Parliament, the European Fire Safety Award 2019 for the best community fire safety project was handed over to the ‘Firefighters Plus’ project. MEP Theresa Griffin handed the award to Kim Lintrup, Chief Fire Officer of Frederiksborg Fire & Rescue Service (Denmark), who received it on behalf of the ‘Firefighters Plus’ partnership. The Award Ceremony was the start of the European Fire Safety Week, held from 18 th to 21 st November 2019 in Brussels.

After two years of hard work, the Firefighters Plus online platform was published in September this year. In just two months, the results are well above the initial expectations:

On 3rd and 4th October 2019, IFV promoted the Firefighters Plus project with its own exhibition stand in the Dutch National Fire Congress in Nijkerk. More than 300 chief fire officers, firefighters and trainers of firefighters from 12 countries participated in the congress and 82 visited the Firefighters Plus project stand where they learnt about the use and potential applications of the Firefighters Plus online platform.

On September 26th, EDRC organised the final dissemination event of the Firefighters Plus project in Cluj-Napoca (Romania). 38 firefighters, 8 trainers, 5 policymakers and 3 representatives from organisations active in the field of social inclusion participated in the event. During the event, the participants learnt about the project, the Erasmus+ programme, and were introduced to the use and potential applications of the Firefighters Plus online platform.

Firefighters, trainers, policymakers and representatives from organisations active in the field of social inclusion participated in the event. During the event, the participants learnt about the project, the Erasmus+ programme, and were introduced to the use and potential applications of the Firefighters Plus online platform.

On September 23th, Alcala de Guadaira Fire and Rescue Service organised the final dissemination event of the Firefighters Plus project in Alcala de Guadaira (Spain). 30 firefighters, 21 trainers, 4 policymakers and 7 representatives from organisations active in the field of social inclusion participated in the event. During the event, the participants learnt about the project, the Erasmus+ programme, and were introduced to the use and potential applications of the Firefighters Plus online platform.

On September 21th, WIOSNA Association organised the final dissemination event of the Firefighters Plus project in Krakow (Poland). 24 firefighters, 13 trainers and 4 policymakers participated in the event. During the event, the participants learnt about the project, the Erasmus+ programme, and were introduced to the use and potential applications of the Firefighters Plus online platform.
On September 21th, WIOSNA Association organised the final dissemination event of the Firefighters Plus project in Krakow (Poland). 24 firefighters, 13 trainers and 4 policymakers participated in the event. From 22nd to 24th May, the seven partner organisations of the Firefighters Plus project met in Hillerød (Denmark) for the fourth transnational meeting of the project.
From 22nd to 24th May, the seven partner organisations of the Firefighters Plus project met in Hillerød (Denmark) for the fourth transnational meeting of the project.
The first day of the meeting was dedicated to evaluating the feedback from the firefighters who participated in the testing of the online platform and the activities to promote social inclusion that those firefighters implemented during the testing. The second day of the meeting was dedicated to defining the improvements to be implemented on the online platform based on the results from the testing. And the third day the partners planned the dissemination events that will take place in September in Denmark, United Kingdom, Spain, Poland, Netherlands and Romania to present the final version of the online platform.

From 9th to 13th October, the seven partner organisations of the Firefighters Plus project met in Poznań (Poland) for their third transnational meeting.

The first part of the meeting was dedicated to reviewing the feedback from the firefighters who participated in the testing of the online training course. This was followed by the presentation of the activities to promote social inclusion that those firefighters implemented during the testing. Finally, using all the information collected during the testing of the online training course, the delegates agreed on the improvements to be implemented during the next months.

From 17th to 19th April, the seven partner organisations of the Firefighters Plus project met in Northumberland (United Kingdom) for their second transnational meeting. The first day began with a warm welcome from Paul Hedley, Chief Fire Officer at Northumberland Fire & Rescue Service. The delegates used this meeting to prepare for the next project activity, the testing of the online training course with firefighters from the United Kingdom, Denmark, Spain, Poland and the Netherlands.
